"Creativity is magic. Don't examine it too closely." -Edward Alber
We get the question all the time, “How old does my child have to be to paint?” and there is no wrong answer! If your little one can get paint onto the pottery, they’re old enough to create, with your help of course! Is their piece going to be perfectly designed and all the paint in the right places? No, probably not but guess what, that’s what makes it so dang wonderful! You’ve probably pitched hundreds of scribbled on coloring sheets over the few short years of your children’s lives. It’s okay you can admit it, we’ve all been there. Letting your toddler paint ceramic pieces with us can be a totally different experience.
Want to give Dad a Father’s Day gift that will make him tear up when he looks at it ten years from now? We’ve got you covered. Let your little ones go crazy painting Dad’s new favorite coffee mug with rainbow colors and then let’s top it off with a precious handprint that will freeze these young years of your child in time. Need a Mother’s Day gift for grandma? Sweet, let’s use their hand and footprints to make a beautifully painted flower garden on the side of a flower pot. I know that it’s stressful as a parent to let your toddler take the reins on creating that perfect gift, but we promise that the outcome will hold so much beauty and value! Just think, when that toddler is 16 and wants to borrow the car you want to be able to look at that creation made so long ago and remember your baby. Adding writing and hand or footprints are an awesome way to let you design the piece you want while still letting your kids paint, no matter how old they are.
The way that our paints work is much different than crayons on yet another print out of Paw Patrol and this art will last forever. Painting doesn’t have to be perfect, in fact, we encourage you to embrace imperfections because they are what make your creation so unique. You’re probably thinking that if you let your toddlers paint how they want, it will turn into a big grayish brown blob. You’re not wrong that can definitely happen, but our guidance on colors and how to layer the paints can steer you away from that outcome. We have so many tricks and tips to allow your little ones to have fun and giving you the peace of mind that their creation will be worthwhile! Want to allow your child the freedom to paint any way they desire? Awesome! We love seeing the creativity of child art!
We have so many pieces to choose from for your child’s art including figurines, plates, mugs, home décor, magnets for the fridge, and more. A butterfly to put in your little girls’ bedroom can be painted with the rainbow in every direction and still be a butterfly when it’s all said and done. Something like our mug that is engraved with ‘I love you’ will still be legible even if it is covered with your little artists color scheme of choice. There are so many options to explore.
Creativity is a part of many of us, but sometimes we can lose the art of it as we get older. What better way to give your child a chance to embrace their creativity in the world of art than to expose them to it at a young age. Your little artist may want to stay and paint for hours or may be done in 15 minutes. You’ll never know until you let them try it out and we are here to support you no matter how your painting date goes. Creativity is a beautiful thing at every age but especially when we see such young artists embracing their creations.
